ADRI UP CEF cofinanced Action has been hosted during the Connecting Europe Conference, held on 21 - 22 September 2017 in Tallinn and organised by the European Commission and the Estonian Presidency of the Council, with the objective to identify policy actions and financing solutions to invest in the Transport sector with the perspective of the post-2020 EU financial framework.
In the frame of the discussions on the TEN-T state of the art and future infrastructure plans aiming at completing the core transport network by 2030 and the comprehensive one by 2050, with a view to the economic, social, job creation, trade competitiveness and environmental impact of the already cofunded Action, ADRI UP has been presented to the audience of the Conference.
The consortium representatives, coming from the Port of Igoumenitsa, Trieste, Ancona and from Rete Autostrade Mediterranee, have explained the Action activities, progress and specific objectives to many interested stakeholders that attended the promotional stand during the two-days Conference. More specifically, the investment upgrades in the freight village of Igoumentsa, the reconstruction of the Pier VI in the Port of Trieste as well as the new design of the RoPax terminal in the Port of Ancona have raised a huge interest among the operators information requests.
The positive cross-border cooperation dimension on the investments foreseen and the Activities focus on the promotion and development of sustainable and intermodal transport connections based on the Motorways of the Sea links in the Adriatic-Ionian Region, have aroused a very pleased visit by the EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc, who seized the opportunity to visit the ADRI UP stand in order to inform herself about the current project progress.
